As much as we love film, we also dig music. Once a month, we strum through films that wouldn't be what they are without music.

The movie: Don't be mad, I haven't seen it yet. But it's sweeping theatres across the world and leaving frenzy insanity in its trail, not to mention making Jennifer Lawrence a household name. And it seems so much cooler than Twilight. There's not much more explanation needed.

We Dig Music: The Tracey Fragments

The movie: Tracey Berkowitz is looking for her younger brother Sonny, who thinks he's a dog. The movie tells the story of fifteen-year-old Tracey traipsing through the city's dark slums, encountering sketchy figures, in sessions with her shrink and dealing with adolescence until she ends up on a bus wearing nothing but a shower curtain. Ellen Page takes the lead in this Bruce McDonald-directed non-linear montage, released pre-Juno in Canada, post-Juno in the States. Though grossing only barely more than $40,000 worldwide, it's one of my favourite movies: daring visually and challenging narratively.

The movie: Full disclosure: This is my favourite movie of all time. I cannot count the times I've seen it. And cried every time. In 1899, a penniless writer, Christian (Ewan McGregor), goes to Paris for inspiration. One night at the deliciously sinful Moulin Rouge nightclub, he falls in love with the star courtesan, the Sparkling Diamond herself, Satine (Nicole Kidman). Of course, their love can never be (or can it?), but when the Duke of Monrth (Richard Roxburgh) stepping in to finance a new production at the club and placing a few demands of his own, doom is imminent.

We Dig Music: Vicky Cristina Barcelona

The movie: Vicky (Rebecca Hall) and Cristina (Scarett Johansson) are vacationing in Spain for the summer; Vicky researching for her masters in Catalan Identity, Cristina on an aimless adventure. The two easily become charmed and romanced by Juan Antonio (Javier Bardem), whose wife María Elena (Penélope Cruz) soon comes into the picture to distort it.
