REEL GREAT READS
  • Gos-tronomy: The 25 Best Ryan Gosling Moments of 2011 (GQ) – While this isn’t really a film story, it features one of our favourite movie and feminist icons of the moment, Breaker High grad and Drive/Crazy Stupid Love/Ides of March star, Ryan Gosling. We just can’t get enough and this is precisely why. Hey girl .... want to get us a Drive Operation game for Christmas?
  • Morgan Spurlock's Comic-Con documentary acquired by Wrekin Hill (Deadline) - This is just some really great, nerdy news. The doc, which Emily caught at TIFF in September and features cameos from icons like Joss Whedon, Edgar Wright and Kevin Smith, as well as stories from actual Comic-Con attendees, is a wonderfully geeky adventure.
  • Lionsgate to remake 'American Psycho'? (Bloody Disgusting) - We were on our way to return some videotapes when we heard this horrific news. How can anyone dream of improving on Mary Harron and Christian Bale's killer 2000 adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis' beyond brutal, oft-banned novel? Thank god Easton Ellis knows what's up and will do anything to snuff any pre-proposed plans.
  • Fox host says Muppets are brainwashing kids (TV Guide Canada) -  Emily talks about the only people in the world who seem to be unable to make a rainbow connection with Kermit, Miss Piggy and their band of puppet pals. Follow the Money's Eric Bolling is claiming that their new movie (Jason Segel's The Muppets) proves that they are really communists in fuzzy disguise!

WEEKEND WATCHES

Photo: Paramount Pictures
  • The Adventures of Tintin - The buzz on this realistically animated take on the comic book about an intrepid young reporter and his dog is infinite. And it's directed by some guy named Spielberg.
  • New Year's Eve - For every Valentine's Day, there's a Love, Actually, right? Also, who can resist Hector Elizondo? Or Zac Efron? Or Bon Jovi!?
  • The Artist - People can't stop talking about this black and white silent film and we're more than ready to join the conversation.

TRAILER OF THE WEEK: Cabin in the Woods
